1296 Miles and 56 Hours to Cabo

Endeavor Racing to Tackle the 40th Anniversay

Greetings to all,

On behalf of John, myself and the entire Endeavor Racing Team, "thanks" for showing an interest on our attempt to conquer Baja!

Without question, the 4th anniversary of the Baja 1000 will be one of the most challenging ever. Beginning in Ensenada, just 90 miles South of the US border, the course will travel the distance of the entire Baja pennisula finally ending in Cabo San Lucas. That's 1296 race miles through some of the harshest land God has created. It's the wild, wild west and it will take the spirit of the American Cowboy to overcome what lies ahead.

John McKinney and Matt Perritte will start the race, and drive the first 306 miles to El Rosario. Doug and Drew Graddick will jump in at that point, taking the racer down to San Ignacio at Race Mile 680. From there, Bill Viering and Pat Wilson will drive it down to Ciudad Insurgentes which is at Race Mile 978 which is where Jason and myelf will take to to Cabo for the finish -- another 320 miles away.

We will be chased in the top of the course by Ken Prater, Phillip Linder and Roger Haynes. This is their first year in Baja, and will handle the duties all the way through Ojos Negros which is where a large majority of the racers end their attempt at Baja.

Jerry Hoover and Troy Morris will be chasing the entire pennisula in our Town East Ford sponsored F-350. In addition, Doug's better half, Angel, will be following the course along with Adam and Theresa from Bronco Driver Magazine.

Beyond the 56 hour time limit, we must make 10 checkpoints within certain time limits throughout the entire course. This is what bit us last year. When you start as far back as our class does, this really causes problems if you have any mechanical failures.

With the additoin of our friends from 24 hour racing, we like to think of ourselves as "Team Texas". This is a predominantly "SoCal" dominated sport, but we want to show folks what a bunch of hard headed Texin's are capable of doing. We really think we can win this thing!

Keep checking back for updates - and plan to track us online during the race. It should be a blast!

Vaya con Dios,

Scott Barnes
