Here's a short story about our Racer
The beginning
I have always been an early Bronco enthusiast, so when we made the decision to race in Baja I had to convince John that we should run in an Early Bronco. John is more of a Chevy guy, and wasn't keen on my idea. But after a lot of arm twisting, he finally saw it my way. Now that I know better, I would probably have done something different. Maybe a Full-Sized Bronco or even a Pro Truck. But once we started, there was no turning back. Our racer started out as a 1976 Ford Bronco that I purchased from a guy in Nebraska. I knew nothing about racing in Baja, and made a very bad decision on this purchase. If I had advice to give anyone considering racing an Early Bronco, it would be this. Find a good frame and start from there! You will save money and frustration! Here are a few photos of our build. It's been a long process that's far surpassed our initial budget. But we've now joined a small group of people who can say they've raced in the most famous off-road race in the world - The Baja 1000!
Here are a few galleries of our build in September 06 and October 06 , as well as our initial shakedown run. We are making many more changes in preparation for the next race, and I'll post more pics as I can.
Here's a few more pics. I hope you enjoy them.
